Makes the quality control requirements of the foam more stringent, and aims to improve the performance and durability of transport containers and insulated vehicle bodies by giving more up to date advice on its use as well as advice on reducing fire hazard during manufacture and when installed.

This Part of BS 4840 specifies requirements for the composition, physical properties and dimensional tolerances of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam in slabs (blocks, boards and sheets) for the thermal insulation of transport containers and insulated vehicle bodies.
