Requirements for materials from which all component parts of the oil burning equipment shall be constructed, and deals with such points of component design and plant layout as are fundamental to the proper functioning of such equipment.

This Part of BS 799 specifies requirements for materials from which all component parts of the oil burning equipment shall be constructed, and also deals with such points of component design and plant layout as are fundamental to the proper functioning of such equipment.

The range of equipment includes:

  1. automatic and semi-automatic oil burners of the monobloc type as defined in Part 6 of this standard;
  2. dual fuel gas/oil burners when using fuel oil. NOTE See Appendix A of BS 5885:1980.

The standard is applicable to burners with firing rates up to 36 litres per hour that are suitable for either class C2 or class D fuels (see BS 2869) or both, as stated by the manufacturer.
