Gives general advice on using engineering procedures for predicting fire spread within and between buildings, and to predict response of a structure exposed to fire. Could be used as the basis for developing a guide, but not meant to be a detailed technical design guide. Supplies a framework for critical review of the suitability of an engineering procedure for assessment of the potential for fire spread and fire damage to the structure of a building. In addition, it gives guidance for assessment of the effectiveness of fire safety measures intended for reduction of these potentials.
