Zweck dieser Norm ist es, Verfahren zur Probenahme aus keramischen Rohstoffen und feuerfesten ungeformten Erzeugnissen beim Be- und Entladen von fliessendem Gut und aus Packungseinheiten festzulegen, um Aussagen über die Mittelwerte der Eigenschaftsmerkmale einer Lieferung zu machen. Die zur Verwendung kommenden Geräte sind nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm. Geeignete Geräte zur Probenentnahme, der Probenaufbereitungsplan (Festlegung der Probenaufbereitung und Probenteilung) sowie Behälter zur Probenaufbewahrung sind zwischen den Vertragspartnern zu vereinbaren.
