Details the partial discharge testing of specified equipments, following manufacture, for use on three-phase 50 Hz systems and for specified capacitor applications. It details the levels of test voltage and permissible maximum discharge magnitude, and supplements BS 4828 in respect of the test method. Covers equipment for an effectively earthed neutral system and a non-effectively earthed neutral system with automatic earth fault tripping, i.e. where the voltage under fault conditions does not exceed 1.9 rated voltage for a time not exceeding 30 s. Does not cover site testing.
