GENERIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ISDN LAYER 1 ACTIVATION/DEACTIVATION

Published date

12-01-2013

Contains Bellcore's preliminary view of proposed generic requirements for the ISDN Layer 1 Activation/Deactivation feature, which is a means of extending battery backup reserve when battery backup is powering the user equipment. Normally, user equipment is run using commercial power. When commercial power fails, user equipment that has battery backup may be powered by the battery. To preserve battery reserve when commercial power fails, Layer 1 Activation/Deactivation deactivates the interface when it is idle (e.g., the user is not on a call.) Deactivating the interface can reduce energy consumption from the battery, thus extending its reserve time.
