Diese Norm gilt für die Anordnung und den Einbau von Fundamenterdern in neu zu errichtenden Gebäuden und ist gemeinsam mit ÖVE/ÖNORM E 8014-2 und ÖVE/ÖNORM E 8014-3 anzuwenden. Hinsichtlich der Errichtung von Horizontal- und Vertikalerdern im Erdreich, die für bestehende Gebäude und zB für Betriebserdungsanlagen elektrischer Netze erforderlich sein können, sind besondere Hinweise im Anhang A enthalten. Im übrigen wird für die Errichtung dieser Erdungsanlagen auf ÖVE/ÖNORM E 8001-1 verwiesen. Die ÖVE/ÖNORM E 8014 Reihe ersetzt ÖNORM E 2790:1991.
