Diese Spezifikation gilt für unumhüllte, oberflächenmontierbare Vielschichtkeramik-Festkondensatoren mit keramischem Dielektrikum, Klasse 2, für die Anwendung in Geräten der Elektronik. Diese Kondensatoren haben aufmetallisierte Anschlussflächen oder lötbare Anschlussstreifen und sind für die unmittelbare Montage auf Substraten für Hybridschaltungen oder auf Leiterplatten vorgesehen. Kondensatoren für Funkentstörung sind nicht eingeschlossen. Diese werden von IEC 60384-14 erfasst.
