Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM gilt für Verbinder für Starkstromkabel für Nennspannungen bis 36 kV (Um = 42 kV), d.h. für im Erdboden oder in Gebäuden verwendete Kabel. a) Die Leiter dieser Kabel müssen den Anforderungen von IEC 60228 und IEC 60228A entsprechen und Leiterquerschnitte mit mindestens 10 mm[2] für Kupfer und mindestens 16 mm[2] für Aluminium haben. b) Die maximale Dauertemperatur des Leiters beträgt höchstens 90 grad C. Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM gilt weder für Freileitungsverbindungen, für die spezielle mechanische Anforderungen zu berücksichtigen sind, noch für steckbare Verbinder mit einem Gleitkontakt, noch für Mehrfachkabelanschlussverbinder (z.B. Schraubkompaktklemmen).
