SWITCH PROCESSING TIME GENERIC REQUIREMENTS

Superseded date

01-06-1995

Published date

12-01-2013

This publication provides values for switch processing time requirements. Throughout the various phases of an end user's involvement in a call, switch processing times are one of the largest contributors to delays that the end user may perceive. Switch processing time requirements are important to a variety of people including:- network planners and designers; service planners and designers evaluating the performance of telecommunications services; switching system designers, manufacturers, and vendors. Describes a method for categorizing types of switch processing, and sets forth mean and 95 pct values as requirements for each of these categories. Eventually, these proposed generic requirements should be included in revisions of several documents related to switching system requirements.
