DUAL-TONE MULTIFREQUENCY RECEIVER GENERIC REQUIREMENTS FOR END-TO-END SIGNALING OVER TANDEM-SWITCHED VOICE LINKS

Superseded date

01-07-2003

Published date

12-01-2013

Presents Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements for dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF) receivers for end-to-end signalling across networks. DTMF signalling uses voiceband tones to send address signals and other digital information from pushbutton telephones and other customer premises equipment. The end-to-end signalling capability is necessary whenever customer-generated DTMF signals are sent, without generation, beyond the originating end-to-end switch; e.g., to remotely access or control a new network feature.
