La norma specifica i principi e i requisiti per gli organismi che svolgono validazioni o verifiche di asserzioni di gas ad effetto serra (GHG). La norma è neutrale rispetto ai programmi relativi ai gas ad effetto serra. Se un programma relativo ai gas ad effetto serra è applicabile, i suoi requisiti sono da considerarsi aggiuntivi rispetto a quelli della UNI ISO 14065.
