The hot storage test on mouldings made of thermoplastic moulding materials can lead to the release of stresses and thereby provide pointers to the suitability of the design from the material viewpoint, and to proper processing of the moulding material. The hot storage test can also be used for assessing other changes, such as those affecting lustre and colour. It is used primarily for the routine control of production (determination of variations occurring in production) and for performance acceptance testing.
