Measures mercaptan sulphur in liquefied petroleum gases. Hydrogen sulphide if present may also be determined. With a 12 litre gas sample the procedure gives a minimum detection level of 14 mg/cubed m, as sulphur, for mercaptans and 7 mg/cubed m, as sulphur for hydrogen sulphide. The method is applicable in the presence of acetylenes but cyanides may interfere.
