Behandelt sind grundlegende Leistungsanforderungen an Schutzkleidung für Angehörige der Feuerwehren bei der Brandbekämpfung. Diese Kleidung kann von Angehörigen der Feuerwehren auch bei anderen Einsätzen getragen werden, für die jedoch eine Gefährdungsanalyse vorzunehmen ist. Für den Schutz bei der Brandbekämpfung werden unterschiedliche Leistungsstufen angegeben. Die für den jeweiligen Einsatz erforderliche Leistungsstufe muss daher nach dem Ergebnis einer Gefährdungsanalyse bestimmt werden. Die behandelte Kleidung ist nur ein Teil des Schutzsystems und schützt nicht den Kopf einschliesslich des Gesichts, die Hände und die Füsse. Diese ÖNORM enthält die Europäische Änderung A1, mit der die Abschnitte 6.12 'Wasserdampfdurchgangswiderstand' und 8 'Informationen des Herstellers' geändert werden.
