A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Le présent document décrit les principes généraux d'ensemencement automatique et de dénombrement manuel des microorganismes par la méthode spirale; son application est prévue dans chaque norme spécifique. Cette méthode peut être utilisée pour tout produit destiné à la consommation humaine ou à l'alimentation animale, nécessitant un examen microbiologique. Des limites sont imposées aux possibilités d'application du présent document. L'interprétation des résultats doit respecter les renseignements donnés en 10.3 et 11. En particulier, pour une bonne utilisation de la méthode spirale, le présent document prescrit une vérification des volumes distribués ainsi qu'une vérification périodique de l'appareillage (voir article 7).
