Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM legt Anforderungen an die Bauarteignung von terrestrischen Abgleichkomponenten für Photovoltaiksysteme (PV-Systeme) fest, die für den Betrieb entweder in klimatisierten oder nicht klimatisierten Innenräumen oder geschützt oder ungeschützt im Freien in allgemeinen Freiluftklimaten nach IEC 60721-2-1 geeignet sind. Sie gilt für zweckbestimmte Solarkomponenten wie Batterien, Wechselrichter, Laderegler, Diodenbaugruppen, Wärmeableitvorrichtungen, Überspannungsschutzeinrichtungen, Systemverteiler, Nachführungseinrichtungen auf den Punkt der höchsten Leistungsabgabe und Schaltvorrichtungen, aber auch für andere Abgleichkomponenten. Diese Internationale Norm beruht auf den Festlegungen für die Bauarteignung von PV-Modulen nach IEC 61215 und IEC 61646. Es wurden jedoch Änderungen zur Berücksichtigung der besonderen Merkmale der Abgleichkomponenten vorgenommen und unterschiedliche Schärfegrade für unterschiedliche Einsatzumgebungen aufgenommen. Den entsprechenden Umweltklassen wurden Staub, Pilze, Insekten, Schwingungen und Stösse beim Versand sowie die Schutzklasse hinzugefügt. Weiterhin wurden für bestimmte Einsatzumgebungen die oberen und unteren Grenzwerte für Temperatur und Luftfeuchte geändert. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Photovoltaik-Module, die in IEC 61215 bzw. IEC 61646 behandelt werden. Sie gilt ebenfalls nicht für Konzentratormodule oder vollständige PV-Systeme. Spezifische elektrische Sicherheitsaspekte sind nicht Bestandteil dieser Norm.
