Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Provides requirements for two-component, high-build, high solids, epoxy mastic paint for the protection of iron and steel against exterior atmospheric corrosion.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This Standard specifies requirements for a two-component, high-build, high-solids, epoxy mastic for the protection of iron and steel against exterior atmospheric corrosion in a severe industrial or coastal marine environment. It is intended primarily for use on imperfectly prepared surfaces, i.e. surfaces which have been cleaned only by hand or power tool to the extent that bare steel areas with residual rust and some previously applied paint of any type are still present. Paint specified in this Standard is described in AS 2312 as Paint Reference 32. This product is generally pigmented with aluminium, however, it may be produced in a restricted range of colours. It is designed primarily for use as a single coat, high-build, self priming finish.NOTES:1 This paint may be used as detailed for system SP3, MP8A in AS 2312.2 Appendix A contains recommendations and advice on information which should be provided by the purchaser at the time of enquiry or order.3 Additional information on the use and application of epoxy paints is contained in Appendix B.4 Alternative methods for determining compliance with this Standard are given in Appendix C.
